How we rebuilt a luxury Rwandan safari operator's website and Google Ads — and turned two years of silence into a steady stream of qualified leads and paying clients.
The Problem
Our client is an ATTA-certified, Kigali-based luxury tour operator crafting bespoke safaris and gorilla-trekking journeys for high-net-worth travelers. The product was excellent. The marketing wasn't working.
A previous agency had built a good-looking WordPress site and set up Google Ads. But in nearly two years of ad spend, the website and the ad account had never produced a single genuine lead. The site looked the part — but it behaved like a brochure left on a shelf.
What We Found
We treated it as an investigation, not a redesign brief, and audited two systems separately.
The website was a brochure, not a conversion path — no clear action for visitors to take, no lead magnet to turn traffic into named leads, and paid clicks landing on a generic homepage instead of a page built to convert.
The Google Ads account had broken conversion tracking (so nothing could be measured), the wrong bid strategy (Target ROAS on an account with no conversion data), and a Google-hosted lead form generating thousands of phantom "submissions" and zero real bookings.
The conclusion: this couldn't be tuned. Both needed rebuilding around one question — how does a discerning traveler actually get from a Google search to a conversation with a planner?
What We Did
We rebuilt the website to convert.
A modern site tuned to high-end travelers, with three components at its heart: a 12-chapter Master Guide to Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda as the lead magnet, a dedicated landing page for ad traffic engineered for a single action, and a custom-itinerary request flow for travelers ready to enquire directly.
We rebuilt the Google Ads account from scratch.
Clean conversion tracking (guide requests and custom itinerary requests), the phantom lead form retired, the correct bid strategy for the account's stage, and intent-driven campaigns targeting travelers the operator can actually serve.
We fixed measurement.
One source of truth, real intent signals over vanity metrics, and reporting on cost per genuine enquiry — not cost per click.
The Results
The system didn't just start working — it's compounding.
- June 2026: 31 leads at $46.34 each
- July 2026: 60 leads at $25.36 each — nearly double the volume, at almost half the cost
But leads only matter if they turn into revenue. They have: two enquiries have already become confirmed bookings, including a single tour worth over $27,000 — against a total July ad spend of roughly $1,500.
For a business that spent two years with nothing to show for its marketing, the change is simple: a website and ad engine that don't just generate interest, but generate paying clients.
Why It Worked
Not one clever trick. We treated the website and ad account as a single system, fixed the real root causes instead of the symptoms, and made the truth measurable so every number reflects a real person taking a real action.
